November 3: Scholastic committee and senate Co-sponsor the "Not-unhappy Hour"

Fall 2006
August 26th 2006 - ASOC released a
comprehensive guide detailing opportunities and resources available to
students.

September 5th 2006 - Senate passed the 2006-2007 Budget.
September 9th 2006 - Senate
appointed six students to serve on each of the six Board of Trustees
Committees.

September 10th - 13th 2006 - Senate
campaigned to pass Constitutional Amendment #5. The Amendment passed
on September 13th and created an access fund. The access fund ensures
that any student is able to participate in Student Government through
providing monetary support for students who demonstrate financial need.
September 15- 17th 2006 - Senate spent three
intensive days in training. Out of this training, Senate created three
standing committees and began setting goals for the remaining year.

September 25th 2006 -The Faculty
Handbook was post publicly online through the combined effort
of Senate and President of the Faculty Jim Whitney. The handbook,
which contains key academic processes, was previously unavailable to
students.

September 25th 2006 - Senate transferred
$7,388 to RHA exclusively for ResLife funding. This transfer
simplifies the funding process by eliminating one of the two funding request
forms that were previously required.

September 28th 2006 - Senate appointed Senior Katharine Hagen to serve as the student representative on the Study Abroad Committee.
October 2nd 2006 - Senate transferred its Club Sports allocation of $19,000 to the Office of Student Life. The transfer arose from the need to make the process of club sports funding more equitable and fair.
October 9th 2006 - Senate completed its overhaul of the Funding Process through finalizing the formula of the funding algorithm and passing new Funding Guidelines. 2006-2007 Funding Guidelines
October 10th 2006 - Senate nominated two students for the Planning and Budget Committee to the Office of the President for final selection.
October 18th 2006 - Senate as apart of its commitment to the Mission of Occidental College voted a historic $7,000 to help fund Exploration of Blackness Week. This is the largest single amount ever allocated to an event.
October 23rd 2006 - Senate announced that Patterson Field Lights are now turned on Monday thru Thursday until 9:30pm. This is a result of Senate's follow through of the GA resolution that was submitted last year.
October 31st 2006 - Senate distributed over five hundred surveys to gain student input on what they would like to see in a renovation of the cooler and in the long run what they would like to see in a student union.
November 6th 2006 - Senate forms Dean of the College Students Advisory Committee. Signifies first time that students have had a formal voice in the academic sphere.
December 4th 2006 - Senator Teddy Zou announced that the EMT program will begin training next semester and begin operation after Spring Break.
December 11th 2006 - President Kuzio delivered a state of affairs presentation to the Board of Trustees.
Fall 2005
September 14, 2005
1,110 student voted in the General Elections on September 12-13, 2005. That's 60.9% of Oxy students!
September 29, 2005
The election for the four Constitutional Amendments failed. No changes will be made the the Constitution at this time. Additionally, since Amendment 4 did not pass, the General Assembly Co-Chairs were not elected at this time.
September 30, 2005
Senators Patrice Hall, Maddie Knaup, & Amy Laslett completed the process of appointing representatives for the Presidential Search Committee, Board of Trustees, and the campus's Building & Grounds Committee. 10 students total were appointed to these committees.
October 3, 2005
Senate decided to appoint Kara Abelson and Matt Kuzio as the Interim General Assembly Co-Chairs for the remainder of this semester. Abelson and Kuzio would have been elected if Amendment 4 had passed in the Elections in late September.
October 19, 2005
Ken Smutny, Class of 2008, has been elected to the vacant Campus Wide Senator. The position was vacant due to the resignation of Devon Puglia.
November 28, 2005
Senate has decided to forgo having a Semester Election for the General Assembly Co-Chairs and Challenged Senator seats. Petitions were received from Kara Abelson and Matt Kuzio, the Interim General Assembly Co-Chairs, making them automatic winners in their election. No petitions were received from students wishing to challenge Senators.

April 22 : Senate will unveil the multicultural history project.
March '08 : Senate begins trial newspaper delivery to the Tiger cooler.
Spring 2007
February 2nd 2007 - Midterm election results announced Spencer Jemelka as the new General Assembly Co-Chair and Caroline Kim as the new Senior Senator.
February 5th 2007 - In effort to better work with clubs and organizations, Senate hosted the first annual club mixer in Coons Rotunda.
February 15th 2007 - Senate working with President Prager reestablished the Presidential Advisory Committee and appointed six students to the committee.
February 27th 2007 - Senate announces in association with the Chief Librarian 24/5 Library Hours for the remainder of the semester. The Library will remain open from 10am on Sunday to 10pm on Friday. The new hours are a trial period and based on student turnout may be made permanent.
March 3rd 2007 - Senate hosted the first annual campus wide community service day.
March 6th 2007 - Senate and the Dean of Students Office welcome students to the new and improved Samuelson Pavilion with free IN and Out. New TV.s, furniture, computers and longer hours.
March 20th 2007 - Senate voted to transfer $2000 from their operations/ training budget to the principle club allocation account: Senate Discretionary.
SPring 2006

The first meeting of the new semester will be held on Monday, January 30 at 7 PM in Fowler 209.
January 31, 2006
Senate will hold an Executive Session on Wednesday, February 1 after the General Assembly Meeting. Meeting will be held in Johnson 204.
February 7, 2006
The Meeting on Monday. February 13 will be in the Morrison Lounge/President's Dining Room in the Johnson Student Center.

Anders Engdahl, Senior Senator has resigned from his position. David Marsh collected names and is in the process of reviewing replacements and will make a recommendation to Senate on Monday, April 17.
Senate has decided to set aside money in next year's budget for need-based grants. They hope this will make Senate more accessible to all students.
