Guest Guidelines

Senate welcomes all guest to its meetings.  The following is the protocol around the Guest Forum.

 

  • The Guest Forum is not an open forum. Guests are welcome to contact the ASOC President if they wish to be on the agenda during the Guest Forum.
     
  •  The Guest Forum may become open if time permits.
     
  • Guests should keep their comments to 1 minute. If they need more time, they should request more time before they begin speaking. Additional time is granted at the ASOC President's discretion.
     
  • When it is time for a guest to speak, they will join Senate at the Senate meeting table. Guests should sit in the chairs outside of the Senate table before then.
     
  • Guests may use first names when speaking to Senate members and the ASOC Advisor.
     
  • Not all issues will be addressed fully in Senate. Senate may direct guests to the General Assembly if that is the most appropriate place for the issue to be addressed.

 

 

Funding Guest Guidelines

The following is the protocol for guest who wish to discuss a specific funding request with Senate. 

 

  • Guest must inform the ASOC President or a Funding Co-Chair that they wish to speak at the meeting on behalf of their request.
     
  • At the meeting the ASOC President will address Guest Funding Guidelines.
     
  • The designated Funding Co-Chair will introduce the funding request and summarize the funding issue.
     
  • The guest requesting funds will have two minutes to address Senate.
     
  • The designated Funding Co-Chair will be given an opportunity to explain any further details
     
  • Up to ten minutes will then be given to direct funding questions to the club/organization guest unless otherwise noted by the ASOC President.  After the question and answer secession, the forum will be closed to the funding guest.
     
  •  Senate will hold discussion over the funding request in a closed forum. Senate may motion to propose and vote on an amount funded or motion to postpone voting until the following week.
