ASOC Funding Guidelines for Publications

Purpose:

The purpose of these guidelines is to increase equity and efficiency in the distribution of student fees for the funding of publications.

ASOC Senate Recommendations for Funding Publications:

Following a comprehensive review of the ASOC budget at the close of each year, Senate must consider allocating specific funds to address the needs of publication requests.   Although the monetary value of this fund may fluctuate from year to year, it is imperative Senate address the establishment of such reserves to offset publication costs during the year.

Guidelines:

In order for publication requests to be considered, applicants must demonstrate their commitment and willingness to comply with the below stated guidelines.

1.  A minimum of 30% of all printed publication material must be reserved for distribution to the residence halls of Occidental College.  Compliance with this policy will ensure greater distribution efforts are undertaken by those petitioning for funds.

2.  All publication groups requesting funds from ASOC must present a display of their publication in the Cooler.  This guideline will foster greater interest in the publication and increase exposure to the student body.

3.  The Finance and Public Relations Committee strongly recommends all publication groups promote their publications through quad sits and other means of advertising.
